Was there to meet and great bilingual children's author Hortensia Ortega and my 8 yr old loved the place and wants to go back on weekends. Everything is nicely organized and staff is very helpful.

My son(6y/o) could only read small words but within a few months, he read 1,000,000+ words from Sept 2024 thru Jan 2025. It was not by chance that he accomplished this; it was by choice, with the help of his teachers, his family, and places like this. If you want to increase the next generation to get out of poverty, make them read. I hear parents make tons of excuses and no solution to fix it…. This is how you bridge the gap on illiteracy. Instead of partying on Saturday, invest in your children. My favorite place to go with the kids. They get their A.R. points and I can drink my hot coffee and enjoy a building full of books. It’s not fully of loud noises and sometimes One bit of advice; restrooms could smell a little better, maybe a small exhaust would help it feel uneasy in there. lol

Very cool and quiet place. The book smell reminds me of Walden Books, from back in the day.

The store is always clean and organized. Great selection of books in all genres. There's a Starbucks coffee shop inside. Great spot to stop by, get a coffee and read a good book.

May is on top of the cafe. Friendly. Would like colder AC on hot days. They are going through a lot of staff changes and training a lot of people. Restrooms are almost never clean and the cleaning company doesn’t really do much. Great place to sit in the cafe.

Barnes and Noble bookstore off of highway in McAllen. This bookstore is nicely organized and clean. Lots of new books and magazines. The children's section has amazing books for the children and toddlers. Restrooms were clean. There is a Starbucks inside this bookstore

I absolutely love this Barnes & Noble. It feels like a magical place that completely consumes me, with books filling every corner. I enjoy searching for specific titles and then settling into the café to flip through them before deciding what to buy. The workers are always incredibly helpful, and every time I’m there, it truly feels like the best place in the world.

This McAllen B&N is excellent - I would venture to say it's better than the ones in San Antonio. Very nicely laid out, lots to see, loads of variety & knowledgeable staff who are also friendly & helpful. The cafe is also clean & has a good selection. If you are a book lover or wish to buy a present this is a great choice, plus they carry a wide assortment of gifts, toys & stationary as well. Very nice. Highly recommended.
